Short Story Review :

My Daddy’s Coming Home Today

            The story which the title is My Daddy’s Coming Home Today is written by Pete Barclay George. He is one of the participants of Creative Writing Course. The main character of this story is a little girl named Sophie.

            Sophie was missing her daddy very much. Her daddy was an army so he seldom went home. Someday, Sophie got a prize and a letter from her Daddy. The prize was contain of a tedy bear and a picture of her daddy. In the same day, there were a lot of people in the street with brought  big flags. She didn’t know what it is for. Sophie was very happy because her daddy would come home that day, but she didn’t understand  why her family and the people around her were so sad.

            Suddenly, many posh big cars passed her. Her family were touching one of the cars. In the back of the car, she saw a big box which contain a sheet, a hat, and a belt like her daddy’s. She also saw a tedy bear near the hat but she didn’t find her daddy there.

             From this story, we can know that Pete Barclay George is good at mix and match many words. He doesn’t write directly what he mean is. For example  he want to ask the reader that Sophie’s daddy is an army but in the story he write “He is kneeling down in front of a green tent”. It can invite the reader to imaginate more. Beside that, Pete Barclay George can make the reader curious about the event in the end.

             This story is suitable to read  both for children and adults. But we musn’t keep secret about something or event which have happened to our children. They know the fact is better than  keep secret from them but they disappoint in the end.
